History & History Related Items
Larsen Bay was named for Peter Larsen, a local hunter and guide. Though the area was inhabited for thousands of years, the first non-natives to come were the Russian fur traders around 1750. Later in the early 1800's, a tannery was built. A cannery was built here in 1911. The area has been the site for hundreds of important archaeological artifacts.
