History & History Related Items Allgood history: There was a post office established on July 13 1848 as Chepultepec. In the early 1900's the Cheney family petitioned the Post Office Department to change the name of the town to assist them in their lime business. The name was changed on December 3, 1915. The town of Allgood was incorporated in 1959, and its first mayor was Mr. Wiley Godfrey. The town joins Oneonta on the West side and is a small town with no rural routes from the post office, only offering window and post office box service Return to Index
