Here is a history page for Childersburg.
Childersburg is the oldest continually occupied city in America, going back to 1540. At that time, the city was Coosa, a village of the Coosa Indian Nation. Spanish explorer, Hernando DeSoto, came in June of 1539 with his large group. The area that is now Childersburg was come to later in the visit. Others also came on exploration tours.
President Grover Cleveland came to Childersburg in 1887.
