The Grand Bay Fire District covers over 75 squared miles. The Grand Bay Volunteer Fire Department ran 356 fire calls in 1997 and 369 in 1996. Homeowners pay $ 35.00 per year for fire protection. The Grand Bay Volunteer Fire Department is made up of 37 volunteers The Fire Chief is Bill Sarver, with Fred Baugh, and Bill Storey as Assistant Chiefs. The Department has 8 trucks and two stations, The Department has 1 paramedic, 3 emts, 7 first responders while the entire department is cpr certified.

Place: Festival Park, Grand Bay, AlabamaThe annual Watermelon Festival will take place the 4th of July weekend at Festival Park. This festival is designed after a country fair with watermelon as the main theme. Activities will include tractor rides, watermellon eating contest, and an open market.
