Rainbow City was initally known as Morgan's Crossroads. The intersection of Hwy 411 & Hwy 77 was the main fairway. It was originally named for William and Thomas Morgan.These were two brothers from South Carolina who began the firstchurch in Etowah County on Hwy 411, still known as Old HarmonyBaptist Church. Visitors to the area can see the historic markerplaced at the Old Harmony United Baptist Church cemetery.
