Roberta Maria Clarke Ruffins main contributions were being author of the Fireside Sketches, and many other beautiful stories. She was contributor to the "Canbrake Herald" and the "Marion Commonwealth" and other periodicals.
Roberta Clarke was born in Chesterfield Virginia in 1829 to Capt. Robert and Henrietta Maria (Gray)Clarke. They moved to Marengo County sometime between 1830 and 1837. Roberta Clarke married J E Ruffin in Uniontown, Alabama on July 25, 1849 by Rev Edmund Murdaugh in the Church of the Holy Cross in Uniontown Alabama. She died in Faunsdale Al in 1906.
