Welcome to the Almond Union of Churches!

We are officially a union of Baptist and Presbyterian, but in actuality the congregation is made up of people from many other groups also, and everyone is welcome. We are a very friendly group, and visitors and newcomers are always welcome. Our primary mission is to serve the Lord, which we do through Sunday worship, fellowship activities, music, fun, and missions. There is plenty of free parking, and there are many seasonal activities throughout the year.

Youth and Womens' Groups

We have a very lively and active youth group which meets regularly. Please call the office for details. The Womens' Prayer Group meets on Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. for fellowship and to use the power of group prayer. We also maintain the Samaritan's Loft - an apartment located over the church office - as temporary housing for those in need, and we have a large food pantry for those in need of food.

Music

We have a very accomplished but friendly choir, with a Choir Director, a Pianist, and Organist. We have a 3 manual Moller pipe organ, and a new set of hand chimes. Other musicians contribute throughout the year also. We use classical, contemporary, ethnic, praise and seasonal music and enjoy it all. Choir practice is 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. through June, at the church.

How to Find the Church

The Main Street through the Village of Almond is Rt. 21. We are the big white church in the village, the only one. From Rt. 17, the Southern Tier Expressway, use Exit 33, the Almond exit (not West Almond), and just go down hill. We are to the right at the bottom of the hill. There is a sign in front.

The Village of Almond

Almond is a small village nestled in a scenic valley, surrounded by farms and rural homes, in the beautiful hill country of southwestern New York State. We are close to the Finger Lakes, with large cities about an hour away in any direction. There are several educational centers very nearby, including the highly rated Alfred-Almond Central School, Alfred University, including the College of Ceramics, SUNY Alfred, and Houghton College, We are on the Ceramic Corridor between Alfred and Corning, and many businesses are growing rapidly in the area, including industry in nearby Hornell. We have four beautiful seasons with a wealth of recreational opportunities, including Almond Lake and its large park. Nearby Hornell offers a large, full service, hospital facility, and Almond has an excellent Volunteer Ambulance Corps in case of emergency, along with a well equipped Volunteer Fire Company. There is also a Library, the Historical Society, very active Lions, Masons, and Grange groups, as well as others.
