The Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences is one of 13 known Math and Science Secondary Institutions in the United States. Currently, Arkansas has the largest and best one. ASMS is a two-year residential school for accelerated Junior and Senior High students. ASMS teaches challenging classes on a college level with professors. Students apply in their sophomore year of high school and the top students in the state are accepted. ASMS (as well as the other Math and Science Schools) have a high standing with any post-secondary institution throughout the world because of their diverse curriculum and their ability to prepare students for college as well as having students with above-average performance in academics. ASMS is a private institution funded by the Arkansas State Legislature, and was one of the brain-childs of President Bill Clinton.
