Wilmar Community Events

June each year
The town of Wilmar, Arkansas has been celebrating June Dinner since the last of the 1800's. It is a festival which commemorates General Granger's ride into Galveston, Texas and freed the last Confederate strong hold on the Negro slaves of the south.
The festival was once a one day event, but has grown into a 4 day festival. It is held the 3rd Saturday in June.
The Juneteenth Association of Wilmar, Arkansas is a non profit organization which believes strongly in keeping the heritage of the former slaves and of the African Americans of today alive. Although it is a African American Holiday, we encourage all races to celebrate with us.
