Year ago, before the railroads or highways, Winslow was the starting point for journeys through northwest Arkansas to the Arkansas Valley. Now the drive is much easier with wide highways and good automobiles. Many of the churches and stores of the 19th century may still be seen here. Arts & Crafts and quilting fairs are held during the year for crafters to show their wares..

The park contains 2,000 acres of beautiful and scenic vistas in a rugged valley of the Ozark Mountains. Within the park are both Devil's den Cave and the Devil's Ice Box, where it never gets warmer than 60 degrees F. Presentations are available at the visitor's center there.
