Hydesville Historical Events
1900's
My Dad, Herman Beaber, was born and raised in Hydesville, California. His
father, John T. Beaber, owned the Beaber General Store there. The Beaber
family lived in the back of the store in the early 1900's. Later, Dad's dad
purchased the hotel that was across the street and they made it their home. The
old hotel was an eleven room two story building. It was built on a several acre plot
with a cherry orchard in the back. It was furnished and dad told stories about the
horse hair upholstered chairs and couches.
This site is in memory of my dad who became a missionary in the Philippines and later became a WWII POW under the Japanese army. The site is in memory of Herman Knight Beaber who was born on 25 May 1907. WWII POW Diary (1942-1945)
