"Prunedale" does not cover all of the U.S. Postal Services ZIP 93907. The origin of the name for the community is not known for sure. Some say prune tree orchards were attempted in the area but were not successful. Even so, the name remained. The area was first settled by Charles Langley who operated the post office here.
