History & History Related Items Truckee history: The western side of Nevada County has several rivers and the borders are defined by these rivers creating quite irregular borders. The eastern county area was included in Nevada County to have access to the transcontinental railroad in the Truckee area. An interesting note is that with this addition to the county, it has the shape of the Deringer pocket pistol which was favored by many during this time period.
