Upland was settled in the early 1880's. Until 1906, it's name was North Ontario. At that time, the name was changed to Upland.

Attractions
Prominent in Upland is one of the 12 Madonna of the Trail monuments. These monuments mark the pioneers' paths across the United States. Upland is also home to the Chaffey Communities Cultural Center, which also includes a good history museum.
Upland has both residential and industrial areas. Types of industry in Upland are: communications, medical supplies, citrus fruit and related business, chemicals and more.
