Milford Historical Events

1965
In 1965 the first Flea Market was Invented. At the Drive-in Theater on Cherry street, 2 young boys Richie and Keet asked the Owner if they could attempt to sell some of their used items on Sundays in front of the Drive-in. The Owner gave his Permission and it was such a big success, because of the Blue Laws that were in effect at that time. When the Drive-in owner saw the traffic that was generated he found an oppertunity to make some money himself. That was the beginning of the Flea Markets in the United States, the Flea Market is now World wide.
I was one of those young boys, I am Keet Hensley and I gave it the name, "Flea Market" For more information go to www.keetsfleamarket.com - the site will forever be under construction, just as the Flea Markets will.
