Chamber of Commerce.
Settlers, John Griffin and Michael Humphrey, first arrived here in the 1640's looking for forested lands for their business. They found ths green valley and named it Massacoh Plantation. The Indian lands were slowly deeded over to the men and by 1670, the area was known as Simsbury, probably for Symondsbury, Dorset County in England where many of the settlers were from. It was incorporated as a town in May, 1670.
