Footsteps of History
Lowell Massachusetts was the home of 2 soldiers among the first killed in the Civil War. Their last names were Whitney and Ladd. General Butler, who held New Orleans for eight months, was also from Lowell. Abraham Lincoln came through Lowell at some point during the war.
