It is believe the first settler of Conyers was John Holcomb, a blacksmith. His home was on the current site of the county courthouse. He later sold his land to W.D. Conyers, a doctor from Covington. Conyers then gave the right-of-way to the railroad and Conyers Station began. Trains began to run regularly and in 1854, Conyers Station was incorporated as simply, Conyers.
