Dacula Historical Events

1997, May - Memorial Day
4th Annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade
In 1997 the parade had again grown to over 40 organizations or groups represented. The 5K run registered over 250 participants with the proceeds again going to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief. This shows that this parade and 5K run are growing in leaps and bounds! The parade was even broadcast on a local cable television channel.
We have received much publicity in local are newspapers such as the Atlanta Journal Gwinnett Extra, the Gwinnett Daily Post, The Gwinnett Herald, and the All Around Town. This year we want to make the 1998 Memorial Day Parade even bigger and better by including as many people from Dacula and it's surrounding area as possible!
Some of the participants in the parade over the last four years have been Company D, 1st Infantry Division from the National Guard Armory in Lawrenceville, the Army Reserve 718th Engineer Company, the 357th Corp Support Battalion, the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes, Sons of the Confederates re-enactors, the 530th Air Force Band, restored WWII military vehicles, Parkview High School ROTC Color Guard, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the VFW Post in Lawrenceville, the Loganville American Legion Post, the American Red Cross, the Dacula High School Band, Lanier Middle School Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, local beauty queens, and many other individuals and organizations.
If you have any questions about the parade please call me at (w) 770-624-2564 or (h) 770-822-4607 or you can email me at:

1996, May - Memorial Day
3rd Annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade
In 1996 the parade was the biggest we have ever had with over 33 different organizations or groups represented. We also had the privilege of having an AH-64 Helicopter flown in from Ft. Knox, Kentucky as a static display during the parade. The 5K run had over 150 participants in just it's second year with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The 1996 Memorial Day events were again a major success in our community.

1995, May - Memorial Day
2nd Annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade
In 1995 we added a 5K run and fun run/walk to begin the day to benefit a local citizen that required a liver transplant. The 1995 parade, run and arts and crafts festival was a tremendous success.

1994, May - Memorial Day
The 1st Annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade
The first year's parade and arts and crafts festival in 1994 was a success with more people on Second Ave. in Dacula than old timers say they can ever remember having in town for one event!
