4th Annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade
In 1997 the parade had again grown to over 40 organizations or groups
represented. The 5K run registered over 250 participants with the proceeds
again going to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief. This shows that
this parade and 5K run are growing in leaps and bounds! The parade was even
broadcast on a local cable television channel.
We have received much publicity in local are newspapers such as the Atlanta
Journal Gwinnett Extra, the Gwinnett Daily Post, The Gwinnett Herald, and
the All Around Town. This year we want to make the 1998 Memorial Day
Parade even bigger and better by including as many people from Dacula and
it's surrounding area as possible!
Some of the participants in the parade over the last four years have been
Company D, 1st Infantry Division from the National Guard Armory in
Lawrenceville, the Army Reserve 718th Engineer Company, the 357th Corp
Support Battalion, the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes, Sons of the Confederates
re-enactors, the 530th Air Force Band, restored WWII military vehicles,
Parkview High School ROTC Color Guard, the Daughters of the American
Revolution, the VFW Post in Lawrenceville, the Loganville American Legion
Post, the American Red Cross, the Dacula High School Band, Lanier Middle
School Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, local beauty queens, and
many other individuals and organizations.

during the parade. The 5K run had over 150 participants in just it's
second year with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross Disaster
Relief Fund. The 1996 Memorial Day events were again a major success in
