The city of Hephzibah was established 24 October 1870. . The city was formerly Brothersville but was later re-named Hephzibah. Hephzibah means: The Lord delights in thee. Currently the city owns one dump truck, two backhoes, two water department trucks, and two police cars. The fire department has gained a new fire truck, an improvement from the old Ford. The current mayor of Hephzibah is D.D Atkins (1-2001).

Hephzibah Historical Events

1985, May 29
On May 29, 1985, there was a girl child born to Michael and Brenda Harris. Her name is Hephszibah Harris. She was named after her grandmother whose name is also Hephszibah. She, I, just recently found out that there is a town that has the same name as me in Georgia. I think that it is something very cool and that I am very special to have such a beautiful name that is also a city in Georgia.

The schools in the city of Hephzibah are: Hephzibah Elementary School, which is in the former Floyd S. Graham Elementary while a new building is being constructed on the old site on Highway 88. Hephzibah Middle School, which has recently gotten a new addition to eliminate the portables. Hephzibah Comprehensive High School, which also has gotten a new expansion to the front of the building to eliminate the great number of portables it had.
