Here is a history page for Parrott.
A Mr. John Lawson Parrott donated the land for the town in 1889. It was for him that the town was named. Parrott was a farming community that thrived during its early years. During the 1950's and 60's, the population began to shrink. By 1997, the town began a revitalization project which helped bring new business and life to the area. Main Street buildings were restored and the the shops of Parrott were introduced. They include antique malls, art galelries, craft shops and gift boutiques.

Attractions
Parrott's historic mainstreet takes the visitor back to the turn of the century. Antiques, art, and the friendliest people in the world make a stroll down Main Street a wonderful respite. Two bed and breakfast inns offer an opportunity for an extended visit. Southern style cooking at the Chinaberry Cafe brings people in from all around. By the fall of 1997, an old-fashioned soda fountain will offer all those fondly remembered sweet treats. The country store should be open by then also.
