A Mr. John Lawson Parrott donated the land for the town in 1889. It was for him that the town was named. Parrott was a farming community that thrived during its early years. During the 1950's and 60's, the population began to shrink. By 1997, the town began a revitalization project which helped bring new business and life to the area.
