The Annual Corn Fest

The Second annual Corn Fest 2000 began on Saturday Oct 7 north of Clermont, Iowa on the Heritage Farm Park grounds and went through Sunday, October 8. The exciting 2 day event of telling a bit of our past farming life began with a flag raising at 10:30 am followed by Wallace's Farmer editor, Frank Holdmeyer, opening the hand corn picking contest at 11:30 am. Patty Judge, our Iowa secretary of Agriculture spoke at 12 noon.
Machine demonstrations included: corn binder and shreader, old time silo filling, threshing machines, horse plowing, steam tractors, shingle making, wood carving, and a large flea-craft market of up to 50 stands. Both days there were antiques to look at, flea and craft market. horse drawn wagon rides, burrow Rides, mini corn Maze, exotic corn exibits and Barn music in the restored barn.
