Clio, Iowa Historical Events

1920-1930's
My uncle, Rollo Eberline, was the depot agent for the Rock Island Railroad during the 1920' and 30's. He had two sons, Howard and Rex who graduated from the Clio High School, probably around 1937-40. When Rex graduated from High School, Rollo obtained the depot station agent job in Manhattan Kansas, and both both boys attended school at the University of Kansas in Manhattan, each obtaining a degree in electrical engineering. After graduation, each worked on the atomic energy (bomb) project. Later Howard founded a very successful company called Eberline Industries.
Rollo Eberline was my Mother's brother. My father, Carl Grinstead, worked on the railroad at Clio for a short time, before obtaining the job as section foreman on the Rock Island at Letts. I believe Rollo Eberline served on the school board in Clio. After his sons completed their education at the University of Kansas, he returned to Iowa to serve as station agent in Allerton.
Rollo Eberline, and my mother were born and raised in Floris, Iowa. Their father owned a general store in that town.
