Saddle Brook, NJ -The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and AOC recently inducted Paul E. Larson, CPA, of Huxley, IA, into the AICPA Business and Industry Hall of Fame. The induction ceremonies took place during the AICPA Spring National Industry Conference in Seattle. The annual Hall of Fame award, honors CPAs in business and industry who demonstrate the leadership, commitment and strategic management ability necessary to help their organizations meet the challenges of the New Economy. Nominees must also hold the CPA designation and must be nominated by a third party.

Mr. Larson was chosen for his innovative thinking over his past 25 years with Equitable of Iowa. During his tenure, he was a driving force in transforming a small life insurance company into one of the fastest growing financial services businesses in the United States. In the past ten years he has been a leader in building Equitable's assets from $1.7 billion to $14 billion, revenues from $200 million to $870 million, and net income from $26 million to $123 million. Total returns to shareholders during that 10 year period also exceeded 1,500 percent-the second highest among publicly traded life insurers.

Named president of Equitable in 1997, Mr. Larson retired in 1999. In addition to his many professional achievements, he serves on the board of directors of the United Way of Central Iowa, and has served on multiple civic, educational, charitable, and community boards.
