The monument is on top the bluffs
overlooking Sioux City
Chief War Eage was a friend to the early white explorers here. He died in 1851.
In addition to the monument here, there are great vistas of the Missouri River
as well as several states.

Commemorating the heroic rescue
efforts shown by the Sioux City community after the crash of United Flight 232
in 1989, the statue depicts Colonel Dennis Nielsen carrying a young child to
safety. The memorial is part of Sioux City's river front development and is
near the Anderson Dance Pavilion.
