The present site of Rexburg was founded in 1883 when settlers built their town on the banks of the Snake River. People had lived in the area since the 1870's though after they had stopped on their way to the gold fields. Many claimed land under the Homestead Act of 1862.

Rexburg Schools

Ricks College, A two year college operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A small school of about 7,000 students, who espouse the ideals of the church making Ricks a wonderful place to attend for a well-rounded education.
