1843, March 3
Samuel M. Fletcher (b. 6 June 1810 at Croydon, Sullivan, New Hampshire, d. 11 Nov 1866 at Salem, Marion, Oregon) purchased the land on which Clear Lake, Cass County, Illinois is located on 3 March 1843, consisting of the South West quarter of the South West quarter of Section thirty-five in Township Nineteen North of Range Eleven West.
