1914-15Mine Explosion
A coal mine explosion took the life of one, among others, "Thomas Smith, mine inspector" and another person (name unknown). These two men died in each others arms and when the bodies were retrieved they were buried together in the same grave. Their bodies could not be separated. Thomas Smith was married to Nora M. Scroggins in 1906, and had a son Johnnie R. Smith born in 1907. Thomas Smith was probably buried at Equality, Illinois The mine explosion was probably in 1914-15.
Note:
Thomas Smith is my grand dad. I have not been able to find any info on him. I would like to find all info about him and mine explosion, place of burial, correct dates, etc.
