John D. Roche married Sarah Ellen Stipe.
Margaret Roche came to the United States from County Cork, Ireland and settled in Ellis Grove with her sons. In 1842, James E., John D., Thomas L. and Joseph Roche purchased a farm in the Ellis Grove area (at that time was called Florence). John D. Roche married Sarah Ellen Stipe. Witnesses to the marriage were Sarah's sister Nancy Stipe and John's brother Thomas. John and Sarah had 9 children: Mary, John, Joseph, Margaret, Elizabeth, Catherine, Edward, Thomas Logan and Sarah Jane. John Roche died on 5/23/1878 and his wife Sarah died on June 14, 1881 and they are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis Grove, Illinois.
