The "Heath" Candy company (Recently acquired by the "Hershey" Candy Company)
The original "HEATH" Toffee bar was originated in Robinson and is still being produced here today. Some of the bars produced here currently are: Heath Toffee Bar, Heath Candy Bar, Whoppers, Milk Duds, Payday and Zero candy bars, and a wide variety of Ice Cream add-in candies and flavorings.
The Robinson "Marathon refinery":
Marathon has four refineries in the contigious United States. Robinson, Illinois - Texas City, Texas - Garyville, Louisiana and Detroit, Michigan.
The Robinson "Victor-Dana Plant":
Dana Corporation, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, began in 1904 as the Spicer
Manufacturing Company producing automotive universal joints and driveshafts. In
1914, Charles A. Dana took the reins of the company, and in 1946, the company
was renamed Dana Corporation in recognition of his leadership. In 1909, the Victor
Manufacturing and Gasket Company was started in a Chicago apartment house
basement. From this modest beginning, the company grew into a major supplier of
gaskets. In 1966, construction of the Robinson plant was started. Training of 13
employees then began. During the final development of the Robinson plant, Victor
was purchased by the Dana Corporation. The Robinson (Victor Products Division
of Dana Corporation) plant has 170,000 square feet and employs 375 people. The
Robinson plant is divided into 3 manufacturing areas, with each having its own
product line. The areas are: Material Manufacturing, Gasket Manufacturing and Kit
Packaging.

Robinson Historical Events
1921 - Birth of James Jones in Robinson. (1921-1977)Author of "From Here to Eternity". One of the major novelists of his generation is known primarily as the author of fiction that probes the effects of World War II on the individual soldier. Born in Robinson, Illinois, Jones entered the U.S. Army and had the distinction of being the only major writer to witness the attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor.
