A history page for Berne. Originally settled by Swiss Immigrants. Others of similar background and religious faith followed. After the railroad line came through the area, the town of Berne became official and began to grow.

Swiss Heritage Village
Tour twelve restored buildings including the Baumgartner Church, Our Little Red Schoolhouse, the
Luginbill House, and the Hauenstein family cider press, which is one of the largest hand carved presses in the world.
Berne Heritage Festival
Each year in September in Berne.
The Swiss Days Festival held each year in July. Berne is known for its Swiss, Amish, and Mennonite cultures. Come and celebrate them with us.
