Fishers has a Town Council form of Government. There is a town manager who is appointed. The clerk and the seven council members are elected.
The Fishers Police Department D.A.R.E. Program started at Hamilton Southeastern Schools in 1991. They have instructed nearly 4,500 students in the classroom and at after-school activities. By acting as role models, these instructional officers develop long-term positive relationships with the children of the community.
The Fishers Police Department's Bicycle Patrol Officers patrol the neighborhoods in Fishers from approximately May through September. The Police Department has up to four bicycles patrolling the neighborhoods at one time and generally work during the evening hours. The bike patrol also allows for more interaction with the residents of Fishers.
The Fishers town flag is comprised of three colors: Kelly green, Holland blue and Weaver white. The green represents the town's green fields. The blue represents the skies, White River and Geist Reservoir. The white represents the town's crossroads: 116th Street and Interstate 69. The angled bar moving upward to the right reflects the town's growth and the two gold triangles represent balances symbolizing the town's balanced and fair approach to governance.
