2000
150 years of Ministry in Hartsville

In the year 2000, the Hartsville United Methodist Church celebrated 150 years of Ministry at the present location on the NE corner of the town square. There was a huge celebration with a balloon launching and much good food consumed. Past ministers and members and friends of the church came to join in the celebration.

The original building burned on Dec. 16, 1951 when a group of children had been practicing the Christmas program. The church was heated with a coal-fired furnace at that time. The children escaped without injury. After many suppers and house to house soliciting of pledges and donations, the new church was opened in 1955.

After the church burned until the new building was finished, services were held in the old Hartsville College Church, which is now the Hartsville Baptist Church.

Our Methodist Motto : Our hearts, our minds and our doors are always open.

Sunday School Services at 9:30 A.M. and Worship Service at 10:30 A.M.
