My father is from Mitchell Indiana. he was the 21st child in his family. But a famous actor came from Mitchell Indiana - Claude Aikens of BJ and the Bear, and countless AAMCO commercials and as well, Astronaut, Gus Grissom. My father and his brothers and sisters went to school with these people.

Attractions

Spring Mill State Park is located 3 miles from Mitchell, IN. It contains beautiful trails, an interesting cave system, a memorial to Mitchell's own Gus Grissom, and a Pioneer Village with a working grist mill. Spring Mill Inn is also located within the park.

The Persimmon Festival is held here every September.
