History & History Related Items Andover history:
The area where Andover would later grow was first homesteaded by G.M. Pattison. He gained ownership in August of 1872. In February of 1876, he sold the land to Ephraim Waggoner and his wife. The first post officer here was opened in 1877 and was known as Minneha. In 1880 the Waggoners deeded 40 acres to Charles Glancey who platted the townsite in February of that year. It was named CloudCity for a local man by the name of Mr. Cloud. The name was changed to Andover on 7 June 1880 after a tift between Mr. Cloud and the local residents. Return to Index
