History & History Related Items Enterprise history: Though several families passed through and lived in the area, the founder is thought to be Christian Hoffman, a native Swiss man, who established a gristmill on the Smoky Hill River. As the mill grew, so did the community around it. The City of Enterprise was platted and organized in 1878. Another of the prominent early settlers of Enterprise was Jacob Ehrsam who built up his own profitable business here. Here is a good history page for Enterprise with much information and some pictures of early Enterprise.
