Sheetmetal factory- on Factory St. in Enterprise, Kansas
George Elmer Smith lived on a house on Factory St. , there in Enterprise, Kansas, where he lived with his wife Clara , and worked at the sheetmetal factory just down the street from his house! He was one of the men who were the backbone of economic development of Kansas , for the factory provided jobs for many people to support their families!
George Elmer Smith was a great man , and he wasn't exactly a nobody either! He was born in Illinois , to a Native American woman , who either abandoned him , or had been taken from her by the government , and placed in a foster home! He searched all his life , to find his natural mother , but died at Abilene Memorial Hospital on December 5 , 1960 , never knowing who his natural mother was! George Elmer Smith is buried in a family plot , at Detroit Cemetery , in Detroit , Kansas! He was a good man , and a good provider for his family! I am his great-grandaughter
