History & History-related items
Here is a history page for French Settlement. This community was once known as Londell. It became French Settlement after the general store of Joseph Salassi. It seems that the steamers from New Orleans would set out for Salassi's store and began to say they were going to "French Settlement." Soon the name became more and more prevalent.
