In 1757 Danvers was officially established as a District and was made a township in 1757
gave the nation such famous sons as Brigadier General Israel Putnam and Doctor Samuel Holten, a member and President of the Continental Congress, and signer of the Articles of the Confederation. For more information see the above history page.
