Longmeadow Historical Events

In 1902, the town of Longmeadow granted a group of 100 hunters to go to the Connecticut River banks, and shoot bald eagles, perigrene falcons, hawks, turkey vultures and any other bird of prey at the time. That single hunt proved more than 200 of these birds to be dead. It was one of the most incredible sites of the time. After that single hunt, the taking of birds in Longmeadow, Massachusetts was outlawed.
