The current Medfield field hockey team is the best to ever come out of the school. The team will play for it's first ever South- Sectional title Monday November 10 at Bellingham High School against Mansfield. Medfield posted a record of 13-2-1 during the regular season for it's best record in history. Since the start of the State Tournament, fourth seeded Medfield has bettered it's record to 16-2-1 with wins over West Bridgewater (13th seed,) Milton(5th seed) and Hanover(1st seed). Medfield be at West Bridgewater (9-5-4) in a close 2-1 game. They then faced Milton in a rematch from last year's quarter finals game where Medfield topped Milton in double overtime. Medfield had an easier time this year scoring five goals a gainst Milton before a last minute drive during which Milton scored two goals. This wasn't enough to defeat the Warriors who won 5-2. Medfield next faced Hanover, a team they had never played against before. Hanover(15-1-0) was seeded first Division 2 South which earned them the home field advantage in the semi-final round. In the first half, Senior Katie Wilson carried the ball all the way down the center of the field unchallenged. She passed through the defense and blasted the ball past the Hanover goalie. Medfield scored again on a shot from Liz Nelson (it was her best performance of the season) on a corner. Hanover was then awarded a penalty stroke which made the score 2-1. Hanover scored again off of a free hit with only four minutes remaining. Medfield scored with 29 seconds remaining for the win 3-2.
