Salisbury history:

Simon Bradstreet, the secretary of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, along with 11 others, were given a land grant on September 6, 1638, to begin a plantation north of the Merrimack River. The original name of the town was Colchester. It was incorporated as Salisbury in 1640.
