Sandwich, Massachusetts has many historical places to see. Among them are: The oldest working gristmill, Hoxie House - the oldest house on Cape Cod, Yesterday's Doll Museum; The Sandwich Glass Museum (as a glass making center); Heritage Plantation with beautiful gardens in which to roam; and much more!
Benjamin Nye Homestead, historic house museum
The house was built by Benjamin Nye, one of the first fifty men to settle in Sandwich. Given permission by the town to erect a mill by the stream from his pond, Benjamin Nye built one of the first grist mills in the country in 1669. Later he also built a fulling mill nearby, and his home in 1685. (excerpt from the Nye Homestead website)
