High Scorer!
The all-time high school basketball record for scoring the most points in a single basketball game by an individual player (male or female) is held by Marie Boyd who, on February 25, 1924, scored 156 points for Lonaconing Central of Lonaconing, Maryland. She scored 77 field goals and two free throws in the game. Her team Lonaconing Central defeated Cumberland Ursuline 162-3. This occurred at a time when six girls played on a basketball team, players moved up-and-down the basketball court at a slow pace shooting old-fashioned two-handed set shots and the typical scoring of teams and individual players was very low.
