Due to it's place in the state with a close proximity to water-related recreation and beauth, Belgrade's population more than doubles during the summer recreational months. All or part of Great Pond, Long Pond, Messalonskee Lake and Salmon Lake are located in Belgrade.
The commercial area of Belgrade is called Belgrade Lakes.
