1884, April 30
April 30, 1884 disaster struck Davison. A blaze started in the storerooms of Thomas Dugan's Drugstore on Main Street and spread like a true wild fire. It engulfed most of the downtown businesses and some homes. All the Village records, which were stored in the Village Clerk's home, above Dugan's Drug-store, were destroyed. Seven Flint fire fighters and the Colonel Fenton Steamer arrived by train, on a flat car, as the fire continued to spread. With their help, the fire was brought under control, and all of the buildings on the south side of Mill Street were saved. When the fire was finally over, all of Main Street was in ruins and nine families were homeless.
