"Christmas
Horses in Holly"
by Val Magnuson
I love Christmas time in Holly!
Love and brotherhood about*
And we have the Dicken's Festival going on downtown!
Folks dressed like London characters!
Dancing and singing too!
Roasting chestnuts in the street! Fun for me and you!
Take a buggy ride or try some games
of old.
On the corner by our $20,000 clock, you can have your fortune told!
This year we had a special treat*
that filled our hearts with pride!
A farmer brought his ponies in to take Hollyites for rides!
On a snowy day the ponies arrived
with their little carts!
We cheered as they walked down the street And hope the festivities would soon
start!
the farmer was from a far away
And on our berg was green!
He took one look at Hollyites and did something really mean!
He said to load the ponies up!
they were going home!
For to let the Hollyites ride, he said Was far too great a risk!
No pony was built to carry them without crushing or rupturing a disc!
All of the Hollyites in Holly put
up the loudest wail!
But- the farmer said he'd come back next year- But- He's bringing his Clydesdales!!
