Dodge Center, Minnesota Historical Events
At the Metrodome in Minneapolis, the Triton High School football team and coach, Don Henderson, won the state football championship for the second time. The first time was in 1994.
The new primary school and addition to the high school are complete
Citizens of the Triton communities pass a bond referendum to remodel the high school and build an addition, which will house the Triton Primary School.
First Graduating Class of Triton High School
The Class of 1991 was the first to graduate from Triton High School (in Dodge Center), which is Dodge Center with neighboring towns, Claremont and West Concord. They are the Cobras, won the Minnesota Class B State Football Championship in 1994 and their colors are maroon and gray.
Dodge Center High School had its 106th and last commencement in 1990.
The Dodge Center Police Department is disbanded and is now patrolled by members of the Dodge County Sherriff's Department.
The Dodge Center Ambulance Service is now run by the city instead of the funeral home and meets state laws.
A new high school is built west of town on Highway 14. The Class of 1972 is the last to graduate from the old building.
Passenger trains discontinue service in Dodge Center
A separate elementary school and new cafeteria are added to the school building
A gymnasium and several class rooms are added on to the school building (approximate date)
Shirley Ardell Mason, the real-life famous psychiatric patient and subject of the 1973 book and 1976 movie starring Sally Field, "Sybil", is born to Walter and Mattie Mason. Shirley attended school there and graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1941. Shirley died in February, 1998. Now New York City historian Peter J. Swales plans to visit Dodge Center with camera crews to film a documentary on Mason's life. Mason admitted to a friend shortly before her death that she was indeed the real Sybil.

A red brick school house is built at the corner of 1st Ave. and 2nd St. to house both grammar and high school students.
Dodge Center High School
The first graduating class of Dodge Center High School holds its commencement exercises. The school will continue to hold a graduation ceremony each year until 1990, when the last class graduates from DCHS. Beginning in 1991, all Dodge Center students are graduates of Triton High School, which is Dodge Center consolidated with neighboring towns, West Concord and Claremont.
The village of Dodge Center is officially established
Dodge Center area is settled first by members of the Seventh Day Adventist church who are emigrating from the East.
