The Governor noted that Menahga was the first place on his journey where pine trees appeared -- still true today. Menahga's second slogan, "The home of Saint Urho," originated when volunteers raised funds for the design and construction of a statue of Saint Urho, the fictional patron saint of vineyard workers in Finland.
