Northfield is known for the siege of the city by the notorious James-Younger gang. The Townspeople banded together to protect their town, defeating the gang, which was captured and sentenced to prison except for two members - Jesse and Frank James. The defeat of Jesse James Days is held each year the weekend after Labor Day and includes a re-enactment of the robbery.
